How To Plan An Essay?

As I already said planning is important so before writing anything on the given writing task 2 you just need to make a structure of task 2 just to make things easier. Moreover, you can get the clarity of what you are going to write in writing task 2. This strategy will help you in your real IELTS test as it saves your time in the exam. So basically it has 4 stages and it starts with planning and organizing the structure. The first one is Question Analysis, Idea Generation, Structure, and Vocabulary.

How to Write a Great Introduction

As we all know the first impression is the last impression, so the introduction is the writing task’s first impression. This is the only thing that the examiner determines before digging into the rest of the writing task 2. Therefore, it is essential to give them a good first impression. IELTS writing task 2 essay contains only two statements i.e background and thesis statement. In the background statement, here you need to paraphrase the essay question and on the other hand, the thesis contains the direct answer to the essay question.

How to Write a Conclusion

When it comes to concluding writing task 2, this part is one of the easiest paragraphs to write because in paragraphs 1 and paragraph 2 you need to think about ideas as you have already mentioned in your introduction and main body paragraphs. But, this is the last paragraph i.e conclusion, the examiner will read and analyze how you ended your essay. Therefore, it's crucial to finish the strongly. So there are two elements that you need to cover for writing a good conclusion:

  1. Summarising the main points of your essay
  2. Varying your vocabulary by paraphrasing
Basically, a good conclusion should be a summary of your main points. Moreover, The conclusion is the last thing the examiner reads and if you can write a good one you will leave them with a very good impression.
Using examples in Your Paragraph
Examples are also an important part of your writing task 2 as it makes your writing easier to understand by illustrating points more effectively. In addition, they are easy to illustrate because it is much simpler to use an example than to try. But, it does not mean that you can insert any example anywhere in the writing task 2 and expect high marks, each example must be done properly if it is to be effective. Thus, each of your supporting paragraphs should have a specific example that supports and illustrates your main point. This is an essential skill to learn if you want to get one of the higher band scores.
